Davis, Prock and others receive end of year awards

Julie Davis was awarded the De Anza Divisions League Most Valuable Player and Brittany Prock was the De Anza Divisions Pitcher of the Year as a CO winner.

Davis was also named the Prep 2 Prep CCS Junior of the Year and was named to the ALL CCS team.

Nancy Liu and Elena Murray were selected to the Division First Team.

Chelsey Liu and Meghan Hook were selected to Division Second Team.

Rachel Maloney was selected as a Division Honorable Mention.

Varsity loses to Carlmont 3-2 in CCS Semifinals

On Tuesday the Mustangs traveled to PAL Stadium in San Jose to face off against the Carlmont Scots in a Division 1 CCS Semifinal game.

In the top of the first after the Mustangs Pitcher Brittany Prock struck out the first batter.  The Scots number two hitter drove the ball in the left center gap for a double, however she tried to stretch it to a triple and was gunned out at third.  This play set the tone for the Mustangs defense for most of the game.

In the bottom of the first, Julie Davis led off the Mustang inning with a triple and scored on Nancy Liu’s safety squeeze.

In the third Davis stepped to the plate with one out and showed why she was the De Anza divisions Most Valuable Player as she hit a homerun to right. From that moment on both pitcher just kept mowing down batter after batter until the seventh.

In the Carlmont 7th, the leadoff hitter reached on an error followed by an infield single.  The Scots then bunted to move the tying runs into scoring position but the Mustangs threw the ball into right and Carlmont had its first run.  The next batter followed with a base hit which scored two and the Mustangs saw the lead they had built from inning 1 erased.  The Mustangs were able to close out the inning without any more damage and returned to the plate to see if they had anymore late inning … read more

What a great 2016 Spring Season.  9 of 11 Varsity teams advance into CCS this season!  Please congratulate the following student-athletes:

Badminton:
Varsity:
3rd Place in El Camino Division
JV: 5th Place in El Camino Division

Shangyu Hsu and Primo Mu advanced to League Finals in Singles.
Kenneth Huang and Matthew Wu competed as Doubles in League Finals.

Gokul Kalyamasundaram advanced to CCS and took 1st Place as a Singles players! He also went to the Inaugural Nor-Cal Regional Championships and took 2nd Place!!

Baseball:

F/S: 6th Place in De Anza Division

Diving:
(B) Varsity: 4th Place in De Anza Division

The Mustangs sent 6 qualifiers to this year’s 2016 CCS Diving Championship.

The boys division had 33 competitors with the Mustangs filling out 4 of these slots. Congratulations to the following boys:

Houfu Yan places 14th at state

Congratulations to Senior Houfu Yan for placing 14th in the 100 backstroke at the 2016 California State Swimming and Diving Championships.
Houfu once again lowered his own school record to 51.43 seconds in his specialty event and became the first Homestead swimmer to score points at the State Meet.

Varsity seeded #2 at CCS

On Sunday CCS Softball has its tournament seeding meeting and the Mustangs were awarded for their great 19-6 season with a number 2 seed in Division 1 and will play the winner of league rival Los Altos or the West Valley league champion Evergreen Valley Saturday May 21st game time and location are still TBD.
